This is also what causes crashes and bugs so why mods like 'no achievements' are very popular as the later patches introduces bugs with VATS and other issues so some people use 1.0.0.35 or what the first update (Fixed a crash when exiting the game) was called but this doesn't support Anchorage or Pitt achievements so when such a thing is triggered the game will crash unless using a mod to remove said trigger for the achievement. (Simple scripts, usually attached to quest related triggers and similar, though to understand this better you would need to use the GECK editor.) Those console commands are just a explanation (And a bit of a short cut) on how achievements work in this game. So all you need is the DLC (Preferable bought via LIVE if possible, unfortunately it's LIVE only and that service isn't available in all countries.) and the relevant patch and you can unlock achievements as usual while playing. What I meant Kenji was that the DLC stuff is in the game executable or 'code' after you've applied the most recent update for it (1.1 added Anchorage stuff and 1.4 adds Pitt achievements.)
